Full-Rim Prescription Reading Glasses
Difference: ready-made and prescription lenses
Refractive Errors
There are two main refractive errors that have a detrimental effect on reading from middle age onwards.
Presbyopia, a loss in pliability of the eyes lens, making it difficult to focus on close objects.
Astigmatism, an abnormality in the normal disc shape of the cornea and/or lens. This is an axial distortion where
focusing is disrupted horizontally, vertically or obliquely.
Ready Made Readers
Ready made reading glasses have a corrective lens component for presbyopia but not for astigmatism.
Prescription Readers
Prescription reading glasses have corrective lens components for both presbyopia and astigmatism. If your
astigmatism is low level, then ready made glasses will suffice. But if the level of astigmatism exceeds a certain point,
then you will need prescription reading glasses.
Product
Optics Technician
The prescription readers here are made in exact conformance with your optical prescription. The glasses are
manufactured by a technician with over 50 years in the optics business. This ensures that reading clarity is restored
and fatigued eyes and soreness is alleviated.
Lenses
We use plastic lenses of standard refractive index. Lenses of higher index can be obtained on request.
Tinted Lenses
Also provided are prescription reading sunglasses with lens of four tint strengths in grey or brown.
Frames
Frames are selected so that they can be adapted for the most comfortable fit. This is acheived by spring hinged
arms and adjustable nose-pads. Other selection criterion include design strength, a wide variation
of styles and colours and general quality of build and appearance.
