As we get older the lens in our eye becomes denser. This makes it more difficult for the muscles controlling the lens, which normally assists the focusing ability of the eye, to alter the power of the lens. From a sight point of view, this has a similar effect to that with long-sightedness, ie the eye can see objects reasonably well in the distance but not so well close up. The point of focus has, in effect, moved further away from its original point. To correct this we must treat it as long-sightedness and the case slimline reading glasses on this page have plus powered lens to assist the eye to re-focus again at close distances.
